Why this petition matters

Started by Natalya McConnell

In order to safely hold school in person we demand SPS:

Provides N95 masks for all
Performs weekly required covid testing at school
Resumes contact tracing
Covid-19 vaccines including booster shots, available at all schools
District’s Covid-19 dashboard must be updated daily
More mental health therapists that represent the student body including but not limited to race, sexuality, ethnicity and gender identity

The SPS district’s Covid case count increased by 600% last week compared to the week before winter break. This is why we students don’t feel safe at school.

This week many students and educators commuted to school buildings only to be instructed that school was just canceled by the Seattle Public School District minutes before school was scheduled to start. Forcing students and staff to wonder everyday and every hour if the district will cancel school is disrespectful and unacceptable. In addition to causing confusion, we no longer have stability or predictability in our school day. This is very disastrous for our mental health.

Therefore, we demand the Seattle Public School District:

Provides N95 masks for all
Performs weekly required covid testing at school
Continues contact tracing
Covid-19 vaccines including booster shots, available at school
District’s Covid-19 dashboard must be updated daily
More mental health therapists that represent the student body including but not limited to race, sexuality, ethnicity and gender identity
